How to make a mosaic mirror: 7 easy steps

Your old, outdated bathroom can take on a brand new shape by implementing a beautifully designed mosaic mirror of your choice. If you’ve ever wondered how to do it without making a big mess of it, follow the following easy 7 steps for creating a mosaic mirror:

You will need:
·         Mirror
·         Decorative tiles
·         Grout
·         Supawood
·         Pencil
·         Sandpaper
·         Tile adhesive
·         Tile nippers
·         Damp cloth
·         Spatula

Step 1: Choose a mirror
Keep in mind the size of the space you want to hang it in, not to create a mirror that won’t fit. You can even recycle your old mirror by stripping everything, leaving only the piece of mirror behind
Step 2: Measure your SupaWood
In order to have a strong backing for your mosaic mirror, you need to add a piece of strong Supawood in the shape of your chosen mirror, keeping in mind to leave an edge around the mirror for your decorative tiles. Cut the wood and attach to your mirror.

Step 3: Prepare your wood
Using rough sandpaper, lightly sand down the edges of your frame to allow for the glue to stick better – allowing the tiles to last longer.
Step 4: Start cutting your tiles
This is the part where you can be extremely creative. Start cutting your tiles, making sure they fit together on your frame and glue them onto the wood by using a tile adhesive. Allow your design to dry overnight
Step 5: Fill it with grout
Fill the gaps between the tiles with grout, preferably with a grout that matches your décor colour scheme. Using a spatula to push the grout in between the edges, let it dry for approximately 20 minutes.
Step 6: Clean up
Using your wet cloth, clean the excess grout that got stuck on the tiles by simply wiping off the grout.
Step 7: Enjoy your mirror
Now that you’ve successfully made a beautiful mosaic mirror, you can fully enjoy it by hanging it on the wall to replace your old, outdated mirror. Remember to use strong mirror brackets, since your mirror might be a little bit heavier than before. The last thing you want is for it to fall and break.
